Assaults, Arson, and Slurs; Reports find anti- Semitism in Berlin

In Germany, anti-Semitic crime rates are rising. Last year, anti-Semitic crimes in Germany reached their highest level since the country started keeping records. Last month a Jewish-ran bar named Morgen Wird Besser, which in English means Tomorrow Will Be Better, was burnt to the ground by arson. In the eight years that this bar has open the owner has faced swastikas etched into his property, threats, and was even confronted by a group of neo-nazis who called him a “dirty Jew” and vowed to make him leave the neighborhood. In weeks after the arson, nearby graves were desecrated at a Jewish cemetery in Pankow, a small borough in Berlin.
